The huntsman spider, also known as the giant crab spider or banana spider, is among the world’s largest spider species. Consequently, during chilly weather, they can be found indoors, taking shelter under furniture or cabinets, lurking behind wall hangings, and residing in closets and garages.

Huntsman spiders possess venom that is not potent enough to warrant hospitalization, although their bites can be highly painful and may result in additional symptoms for individuals with heightened sensitivity. Despite their size, huntsman spiders are typically not aggressive creatures, and in most cases, they will attempt to escape rather than bite. These spiders are recognized as beneficial due to their diet, which includes various insects like cockroaches, moths, and occasionally small reptiles.
